Picking up where BLOODROSE left off, this short story delves into the aftermath of the final battle between the Searchers, the Keepers and the Guardians. Adne is haunted by her past actions, Logan is running for his life, and the Searchers still don't feel safe. What they thought was the end of the War of All against All may just be the beginning of something even more sinister...
This isn't a true review since this is a novella, but that's okay. I feel like I should put something here for you guys that don't read the spoiler section.

Okay I gave this novella four stars because of the beginning and the Bosque Mar part and the part where I conclude that Cremer is just fucking with us readers. You know it's really hard to write this review without spoilers.

I have to admit that I really miss Calla, Shay, and Ren as the lead characters. They were strong, and I miss them. Adne, Connor, Ethan, and Sabine are great and all...but I miss my favorite trio that always fought and never agreed on a single thing. It was entertaining.

I just hope that in Cremer's follow-up book Snakeroot that she can create another bond between her characters that runs real deep and even allows the reader to connect with them. That probably didn't make any sense.

In short, I just hope that Snakeroot lives up to my expectations.
Don't you dare fuck with me, Cremer. I am not in the mood to be fucked with right now.

You know, I was just casually scrolling through my books on my Nook, when OH, I saw Aftermath. I decided it'd be fun to take a trip down memory lane and read about some of my favorite characters ever. I thought it was going to be fun, and that the read was going to make me laugh. But no. Cremer just wouldn't have any of that.

Instead, she ripped my heart out of my chest and made me question everything I said about the third book.

Ren is supposed to be dead. Yes, I love him, but dead. He's supposed to be dead. Dead characters need to stay dead! That's why everyone hates zombies! BECAUSE THEY NEVER DIE.

But anyway. Yes, I am partially glad that my little Ren (or big Ren. He's probably fifty times my size, tbh) still might be alive, but come on, Cremer. You don't fool us. The only reason you're writing this new Nightshade Legacy series is because of this little ending novella you left us readers to cry about. Don't deny it. I know your secret.

That's right guys. I'm pretty sure that Snakeroot is about Ande bringing back Ren from the dead. You know, she's gonna pull an Elena and Bonnie on us all (Vamp Diaries refernce. The show. Not the book. I hate the books), bringing her brother back from the dead and going to the dark side. I'm pretty damn sure that's what's going to go down.

But then Logan. Logan Logan Logan.
I'm actually really glad that Logan was in this novella, and that he'll also be in Snakeroot. I love Logan. I don't care if he is a traitorous bastard. I love him. He's such an awesome character. Plus I can imagine his highlighted hair being super hot, you know?

But seriously. Cremer was just fucking with us in this novel. She was just fucking with us.

I feel like I should say why I gave this four stars. That's because the beginning when they were in the library, albeit necessary, was sort of boring. I don't know. I just didn't feel like this was magnificent or anything, you know? And the part where Adne's in the garden and Bosque "visits" her? Sure. Okay. Yeah.
